Lessons to Complement Children's Literature
August 4, 2008
Several lesson plans have been developed to coincide with existing literature for children ages 5 and up. Each lesson correlates to economic and/or personal finance concepts and enables teachers to share these topics within a reading component. One of the latest lessons is based on the story called Saturday Sancocho, by Leyla Torres, and allows students to explore how bartering is done in Central and South America as they listen to a story and participate in a trading activity to illustrate money's advantages over bartering.
